A new year has begun, and with it a new president, supposedly the Leader of the Free World has entered as American’s president.
I feel compelled to write about this election and to voice my disagreements with the content and style of President Trump’s first few weeks. I did not vote for him and was shocked that he won.
In the time since his election and inauguration, I have also been shocked by the negative rhetoric and actions aimed at minorities in America, including immigrants.
My business, Accent-American, seeks to serve immigrants coming to America to pursue their dreams. As I say frequently, we were all immigrants once, even if it was our forefathers.
Immigrants are what have made America great.
My work as an accent coach helps those from other countries fit in to the fabric of America by teaching the American accent and how to pronounce clearly. This tapestry we call the United States is made up of all types, people of all colors, nationalities, religions, sexual orientations, languages of origin.
I will continue to do all that I can to support the fair treatment of all of its residents, both newly-arrived (if that is still allowed!!) and those who have been here longer.
